Victoria Queen
Director, Victory Trade School
As
Director of Victory Trade School, I was challenged to plan, develop,
organize, open, and operate the Victory Trade School and its laboratory
operations; The Cook's Kettle Restaurant, a working "student-operated"
public restaurant and the Victory Lodge, a European-style hostel, where
our students receive hands-on experience in the hotel industry. As a
vertical extension of the school we have developed Victory Prep School,
its purpose is to prepare men, through Bible studies and life skills, for
the next step into the hospitality courses or for the job force.
In the capacity of Director of Education for the Springfield Victory
Mission I oversee education which includes Victory Trade School and its
two laboratories: First, Cook's Kettle Restaurant which serves as the
foodservice for the Mission as well as a public restaurant, and second,
Victory Square, the men's residential facility and its programs. I am also
responsible for Victory House, our women's facility, and the New Life
Program.
I am a certified instructor for the National Restaurant Association
Educational Foundation. I also serve as an adjunct professor of business
for Ozarks Technical Community College and taught for 5 years at the
Federal Medical Center for Prisoners.
I worked five years for Marriott Education Services at Missouri State
University and before that, Florida State University as Director of
Catering. I developed a system of "area treatments" for Marriott, traveled
as a catering specialist, served on corporate sales teams, and was
directly involved in the bid process on prospective accounts. I owned and
operated a restaurant at two different times and managed a country club.
For ten years I was Director of Hospitality for a private liberal arts
college.
My educational background is a Masters of Business Administration and an
undergraduate Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management with a
minor in Psychology. Training includes Stephen Covey's Leadership,
Entrepreneurship, Auxiliary Law Enforcement, Serv-Safe, ProMgmt,
ManageFirst, HACCP and a Private Pilot Certification.
I serve the community through membership in the Chamber of Commerce, North
Springfield Betterment Association, American Culinary Federation,
Commercial Club, and as an Executive Board member for CASP – Community
Alternative Sentencing Program.
Kami Gollhofer
Assistant Director of Education
Victory House Director
Kami
began her career with the Victory Mission in 2003 as an intern for the
Victory House. After completion of her internship, Kami gained experience
in supervising and leading women into a life of sobriety by working for a
secular drug and alcohol abuse agency for women for over two years. Kami
always knew something was missing in the lives of the ladies she worked
with, and that thing was Jesus Christ. In January of 2006, Kami accepted
the position of Director of the Victory House, a short-term shelter for
women and their children. After much prayer and thought, she changed the
short-term shelter into the "New Life Program", a yearlong program
focusing on classes and worksite opportunities for women to change their
lives through Jesus Christ. She has also created a "Family Science" area
where women learn child and home management skills.
Recently, Kami has accepted an additional position in the Education
Department as the Assistant Director. She uses her skills to assist the
Director in making the school the best trade school in the nation. Kami is
dedicated to the women at the Victory House as well as the students of
Victory Trade School. Her goals are to lead men and women to Jesus Christ
and to teach them how to live clean and sober.
Chef Chadwick Isom
Executive Chef, Cook's Kettle Restaurant/Victory Trade School
As the
Executive Chef I am responsible for the operations of the Cook's Kettle
Restaurant. As instructor, I teach classes in the trade school and serve
as the hands-on trainer in the Cook's Kettle Restaurant. I make decisions
for food quality, place orders, write menus, and teach food preparation. I
also serve as the President of the American Culinary Federation
Springfield/Branson chapter.
I first became interested in cooking as a young child. My mother worked
long hours, as a nurse and dad didn't cook. I started doing a lot of
cooking at age 12. When my mother was in the kitchen I was with her. She
would catch me adding seasonings and giving advice – -coming from her
young son, this was not always well received. I should have known then I
was going to be a chef, because I already thought I was in charge.
At 15, I got my first restaurant job in a steak house near Wichita Kansas
and quickly moved to lead cook. After high school I went to a French
restaurant. The first thing the French chef said to me was "get a haircut
and keep it short, no earrings, and forget everything you think you know."
It would be done his way.
Max Givone at the Old Miners Inn was my mentor for 7 years. He helped me
through a three-year culinary program and I became his Sous chef. Max
taught me discipline, solid French technique and respect for the Chef I
worked for. After 6 months a "light bulb came on" and I knew that this was
what I would do for my life. He introduced me to most of the top chefs in
this area through the American Culinary Federation. I received Junior Chef
of the Year award in 1997 and I medaled twice in ACF cooking competitions.
. In 2007 I was awarded the Louis Szathmary Chef Humanitarian award for my
service with the school and various areas of volunteerism.
I cooked at "The Worman House" at the Big Cedar Lodge in Branson for two
years, and also helped open "Top of the Rock" which is an Italian Bistro.
As a research chef, I worked for Sara Lee, Dillion's, HEB stores, and
Shoney's restaurants developing new food products.
At my last position before Cook's Kettle, I was the executive Sous Chef
for 3 years at Hemingway's, an upscale seafood restaurant in Bass Pro Shop
in Springfield, MO.
During this time I also volunteered as a "Visiting Chef" at the Victory
Trade School. I prayed every day to do God's will and to be of service
somehow. There was no question when the opportunity came for me to be a
part of the school, that it was the right place for me. It is the best
experience of my life.
Pastor Rob Helfer
Student Development Coordinator/Student Pastor, Victory Trade School
I
serve Victory Trade School Students as their Chaplain, counselor and
mentor. Also as a non-core instructor, this includes life skills and
interpersonal relationship classes. My ministry here at Victory Trade
School is to come along side each man and to encourage and walk with them
through the hard times and rejoice with them through the victories. I have
spent 8 years in volunteer ministry as a Hospice Chaplain (Grief
counselor). Volunteer Chaplain in a Local Residential care facility
(Pastoral Ministries) also currently I am a Facilitator with my local
Church for Celebrate Recovery and Alpha.
My Goal at Victory Trade School to help Men to build and nurture that
intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which will take them and
stay with them as far as they want to go. I am credentialed with the
Assemblies of God and am anticipating a June 2009 Ordination Goal. My
Education is through Evangel University and Global University.
Alan Queen
PREP Coordinator
I serve as the coordinator of Victory PREP School. I am responsible for
all aspects of student life while they attend PREP, which stands for
Prayer, Reading scripture, Education, and Praise. I oversee the volunteer
instructors and teach or assist in some classes. I keep the record of all
students, oversee their dorm life, counsel and discipline when necessary.
The students start each morning with a family style breakfast where they
Pray, Read scripture, discuss Education, and give a Praise to start the
day. They attend two classes each day and work a job where they are
evaluated and trained in workforce skills.
My service in this area comes out of an understanding of where the
students come from since my background is similar to theirs. I held many
jobs in the past but drugs controlled me. After meeting Jesus, my desire
to learn more about the Word led me to a Christian Recovery Program. Upon
graduation, I worked for Springfield Victory Mission as the Director of
Warehousing and Transportation. In this capacity I was responsible for
four trucks, logistics of receiving and donations, sorting and recycling.
When the PREP school was formed in the summer of 2006, I knew that God was
leading me to serve as their leader.
I am currently enrolled in Ozarks Technical Community College and
participate in on-line studies through Charles Stanley Institute.
